When the Valais Film Commission supports the stories of tomorrow

On the occasion of the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, the Valais Film Commission (VFC) continues its commitment to international film creation by supporting the Alliance 4 Development (A4D) program, a strategic platform for co-productions between Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

Held as part of Locarno Pro from August 7 to 12, 2025, A4D brings together 11 developing projects led by both emerging and established producers. Its goal: to support the artistic and financial structuring of the films while fostering long-term collaborations between partner countries. During three intensive days, project teams benefit from tailored one-on-one meetings, pitch sessions, workshops, and networking lunches—a major springboard toward international co-production.

A Prize for Screenwriting
Among the awards presented at the end of the program, the “DreamAgo” script doctoring residency, worth CHF 5,000, stands out as one of the most sought-after. Sponsored by the Valais Film Commission, this prize allows a selected screenwriter to join the prestigious DreamAgo program and benefit from personalized mentoring. The residency includes an exceptional script doctoring session with Christopher Hampton, Oscar-winning screenwriter of Dangerous Liaisonsand a major figure in international cinema.

Through this targeted support, the VFC reaffirms its commitment to screenwriting and talent development. By partnering with DreamAgo, a respected cultural player in screenwriting training in Valais, the VFC also highlights local expertise in service of projects with European or international ambitions.

A Dynamic Ecosystem
This involvement in A4D is part of a broader strategy for developing the audiovisual sector in Valais, focused on co-productions, screenwriting, and hosting film shoots. By connecting emerging screenwriters with top-level professionals and giving them access to high-quality artistic guidance, the VFC actively contributes to establishing Valais as a prime filming destination for the European cinema of tomorrow.
